

An industrial visit was organized to the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Pune, on 10th November 2025 for students of FY AMIL, School of CSIT to gain exposure current happening at CDAC and technologies used for ongoing national-level research initiatives. CDAC is India’s premier R&D organization under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), renowned for its contributions to high-performance computing, cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and advanced digital solutions.

The purpose of the visit was to bridge academic learning with practical industry knowledge and to help students understand the emerging opportunities in the field of AIML and AI-driven technologies.
Objectives of the Visit
- To learn about CDAC’s roadmap, ongoing national missions, and future research directions.
- To understand the fundamentals and real-world applications of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML).
- To gain insights into AI-enabled Drone Technologies and autonomous systems.
- To enhance student awareness about career opportunities and skill development in advanced computing.
- To provide students with industry exposure and practical understanding of current technological advancements.

Sessions Conducted
CDAC Roadmap and National Technology Initiatives: The second session focused on CDAC’s long-term technological roadmap and contribution to India’s digital transformation. CDAC’s achievements in high-performance computing, including the PARAM series supercomputers. Research domains such as cybersecurity, AI for societal applications, language computing, IoT, and microprocessor design.


National Supercomputing Mission and upcoming AI-driven projects. Overview of CDAC’s skill development programs, certification courses, and training initiatives. Emphasis on innovation, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and indigenous technology development. This session provided students a broader understanding of India’s strategic vision in advanced computing.
Session on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML): The first session provided an overview of the concepts, tools, and applications of AIML. Key highlights included, Introduction to AI, Machine Learning, Demonstrations of machine learning models developed by CDAC, and AI frameworks in industrial applications. The session helped students understand how AIML solutions are conceptualized, developed, and deployed in real-world scenarios.


AI in Drone Technology: The final session covered the integration of AI in modern drone systems. Overview of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and drone hardware components. Application of AI for in terms of Autonomous flight and navigation, Obstacle detection and avoidance, Real-time video analytics, Surveillance and mapping, Precision agriculture and disaster response. Future applications including swarm drones, AI-based mission planning, and autonomous delivery systems. The session showcased how AI is revolutionizing drone capabilities and enabling smarter autonomous aerial systems.

Observations and Learning Outcomes
