To cater for changing landscape of the Logistics and Transport industry and the challenges thereby, SSPU is conducting skill development training programs for ‘Opportunities in High-growth Sectors.
The Ports, Terminal and Logistics Management has become a niche area where employment opportunity are increasing. There has been upward trend in investment in Ports & Terminal Infrastructure and Logistics facilities. Initiatives like Special Investment schemes on the Coastal region (Sagarmala Project for Port Led Coastal Economic Zone Developments and Bharatmala Project for Road Infrastructure Project) creates employment opportunities within the Ports and Terminal on the coast and at Inland Industrial Centers. The Terminals at inland Industrial centers will comprise of new Multimodal Logistics parks, Multi modal transport functionality with transport mode Interchange hubs which will have cargo handling equipment and Warehousing facilities, Warehousing Free Trade Zones and Special Economic Zones. Under Sagarmala Programme, more than 577 projects (Cost: Rs. 8.57 Lacs Crores.) have been identified for implementation, during 2015-2035, across the areas of port modernization, new ports development, ports connectivity enhancement, port-linked industrialization and coastal community development. As of March 31, 2018, a total of 492 projects (costing around Rs. 4.25 Lac Crores) were under various stages of implementation, development and completion.
Multinational Companies have been investing into Infrastructure development Projects especially in Minor Ports in various coastal states.
The Public and Private initiatives will create a high demand for existing workforce to learn new skills and also create additional skilled workforce to match the demand from Ports and Terminals Organizations.
BBA in Ports and Terminal Management provides an opportunity to upgrade skills to integrate successfully into High Growth Sectors created due to changes in Government of India Infrastructure development policies.
In our pursuit to achieve excellence in skill-based education, we are continuously analyzing the dynamic trends and training needs in Ports, Shipping, Logistics and Waterways sectors to meet SSPU mission through innovative curriculum since employment landscape is rapidly changing and new job roles are emerging.
Our Mission is to provide higher education and skill development for students who then can be a continuous source of “Hands on” trained manpower to the Ports, Terminal and Logistics Industry.
SSPU is very well placed in terms of its supply-side initiatives and grooms students to be skilled and trained with transferrable capabilities to cater to the new initiatives taken by the Government of India to meet the manpower requirement of the Industry.
