e-Yantra Robotics Competition 2024-25 at IIT Bombay

Team of Second-Year Mechatronics Students from SSPU Wins e-Yantra Robotics Competition 2024-25 at IIT Bombay

Winner Team Members:

  • Vedant Vijay Ravnang
  • Ram Rajesh Passi
  • Anjali Aji

The e-Yantra Robotics Competition 2024-25 was a 7-month-long journey conducted in three stages. It began with the inauguration of the e-Yantra Lab at Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU).

In Stage 1, which was entirely simulation-based, the competition was fierce, with 1,008 teams from across the country participating. However, our students persevered, continuously adapting and improving with each task. Their dedication paid off when they qualified for Stage 2—the hardware phase—where only the top 50 teams advanced.

Throughout the competition, they implemented the PID control technique for various tasks, using components such as MPU6050, Arduino Nano, HC05, and N20 geared encoder motors to develop a robust system.

The Final Showdown at IIT Bombay (March 27–29, 2025)

The final competition was conducted over three days at IIT Bombay.

  • Their first run was exceptional, earning the highest score among all teams.
  • The second run was more challenging, making it difficult to score high. However, the students impressed the jury during the interview round.

The judges were particularly fascinated by their unique method of controlling the bot. The moment became even more special when Prof. Kavi Arya, the head of e-Yantra, expressed great interest in their approach and actively participated in their viva discussion. It was a full-circle moment—from struggling with the bot in earlier stages to impressing the very experts who designed the challenges.

Finally, SSPU’s Second-Year Mechatronics team emerged as the winner of the e-Yantra Robotics Competition 2024-25 at IIT Bombay.

Acknowledgments: During these seven months, the students received valuable guidance and support from the School of Mechatronics, especially:

  • Prof. Jahida Subhedar (SPOC, e-Yantra eLSI)
  • Dr. Gaurav Kumar (Assistant Professor)
  • Dr. Hrushikesh Kulkarni (Program In-charge)

Their mentorship played a crucial role in the team’s success.

This victory is a moment of pride for Symbiosis Skills and Professional University, showcasing the technical excellence and innovation fostered at the School of Mechatronics Engineering.
