SSPU

The program goes beyond traditional classroom teaching and focuses on developing practical competencies, hands-on expertise, and real-world problem-solving abilities required in the fast-evolving retail and consumer business sector.

Retail is one of the largest and fastest growing industries globally, and the program is structured to prepare students for careers in modern retail, e-commerce, luxury retail, supply chain, merchandising, store operations, customer experience, and retail analytics. The curriculum is carefully designed in collaboration with industry experts to ensure that students acquire the exact skills demanded by leading retail organizations.

A key strength of the program is the strong industry connect with leading retail brands, enabling students to learn directly from professionals through guest sessions, workshops, live assignments, and industry mentoring. The program is also supported by its association with the Retailers Association of India (RAI), which ensures alignment with national retail skill standards, exposure to industry best practices, and opportunities to interact with top retail leaders. The Retailers Association's Skill Council of India (RASCI) plays a crucial role in the development of skilled manpower for the retail sector in India. It is the sector skill council for retail, established under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) with which SSPU has joined hands. RASCI works to bridge the gap between industry requirements and academic training by creating standardized skill frameworks and certification systems for retail professionals

To make learning truly practical, the university has developed a unique Retail Lab, a simulated retail environment where students gain hands-on experience in store layout, visual merchandising, billing systems, inventory handling, customer interaction, and retail technology. This lab-based learning approach allows students to practice concepts in a real-life setting and build confidence before entering the industry.

The program follows a practice-first learning model, where every academic year includes mandatory internships with reputed retail organizations. Students work on live projects, store operations, market research, and business improvement assignments, ensuring that they graduate with substantial industry exposure. This continuous internship model helps students understand real business challenges and develop professional work ethics from the first year itself.

In addition to internships, students regularly participate in industry visits, retail simulations, live case studies, brand projects, and skill workshops, making the learning process dynamic and engaging. The focus is not only on knowledge but on skill development, communication ability, leadership, teamwork, digital retail skills, and customer management, which are essential for success in the retail sector.

The BBA Retail program at Symbiosis Skills and Professional University is ideal for students who want a career-focused education with maximum practical exposure. With its strong industry partnerships, association with leading retail bodies, modern lab infrastructure, and emphasis on experiential learning, the program ensures that students graduate as confident, skilled, and industry-ready retail professionals prepared to excel in national and global retail careers.
