In 2019, the Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU) established a centre of excellence for road safety and accident research along with J.P. Research India (www.jpri.in). The primary focus of the centre is to engage in road safety activities including technical trainings and internships for conducting crash investigation, crash data collection and other road safety projects. The centre was inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Nitinji Gadkari.
The centre has conducted seminars and workshops to provide technical training and skills development to SSPU students and faculty by raising awareness about the science of road safety and its effective application to make roads safer. Workshops have been conducted on traffic data collection and analysis, road safety audits, crash investigation and reconstruction, statistical methods for crash data analysis, as well as, understanding the Motor Vehicle Act and the Central Motor Vehicle Rules.
