In an effort to cultivate the latent talents of students, the Student Council of Symbiosis Skills and Professional University recently orchestrated ‘Saksham 2.0,’ an annual inter-college cultural and sports competition. Drawing participation from college students in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad areas, the event featured esteemed guests, including Pro-Chancellor Dr. Swati Mujumdar as the chief guest, alongside Dr. Arjun Naik, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Bank of America. Prateek Agarwal, Director of ForeExcel, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, and Dr. Gauri Shirurkar, the Vice-Chancellor in charge, was also present.
The event encompassed a fusion of art, sports, cultural competitions, an open market, and a DJ, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The inter-college sports competition featured basketball, football, and box cricket, all conducted in the expansive university grounds, underscoring the significance of sports at SSPU. Various college students registered for the sports events, and the cultural programs included performances by stand-up comedian Vivek Samtani, eliciting laughter from the audience.
The live band performance by Zaria Band and the presence of Abhinav Shekhar and Messi added allure to Saksham 2.0. Students showcased their talents through group and solo dances, band wars, music competitions, singing contests, solo singing performances, and beauty contests during Saksham. The audience was treated to a spontaneous response in Mr. and Mrs. Saksham, and attractive prizes were awarded to the winning contestants. Dr. Swati Mujumdar, the Pro-Chancellor of Symbiosis Skills and Professional University, underscored the university’s dedication to fostering innate skills and offering a platform for student talents. She highlighted those activities such as Saksham not only spotlight students’ abilities across diverse domains but also provide invaluable experience in event planning, finance, product sales, marketing, and other essential skills.
