Academic Quality Improvement Programme

A meeting on the Academic Quality Improvement Programme (AQIP) with Mrs. Alka Pande was held on 28/01/2021, Time 10 pm in E405. Dr. Charudatta Pathak along with Prof. Sanjay Bhandari, Prof. Sumit Dubal, Prof. Roshan Bhagat, Prof. Sagar Khedkar, Prof. Rajkumar Baghel, Prof. Shweta Jain and Prof. Sagar Biradar attended the meeting. The meeting was held to discuss teaching practices that can be adapted to meet the aspirations of the students for skilling them so that they are industry-ready.

Online training of ADSC, 3D Printing and Electric Vehicle Service Technician course

  • Sumit Dubal, Prof. Rajkumar Baghel, Prof. Yogendra Jain and Mr. Sandeep Deshmukh attended online training of ADSC, 3D Printing course from 21st Jan to 23rd Jan 2021.
  • Prof. Shweta Jain and Prof. Ganesh Lohar attended online training of ASDC, Electric Vehicle Service Technician course from 21st Jan – 23rd Jan 2021.

Visit by Mr. Prasad Gore, Chief operating officer at Auto Cluster

  • Prasad Gore, Chief operating officer at Auto Cluster, along with his team visited the Skill centre on 8th December 2020 at 11 am. Dr. Charudatta Pathak, Director School of Automobile engineering along with Prof. Sumit Dubal, Dr. Hrushikesh Kulkarni, and Prof. Yogendra Jain interacted with Mr. Prasad. The objective of the meeting was to see the CNC and 3-D printing facilities in the Skill center and to discuss the possibility to allow students of the JPM course to have training in Auto Cluster for few days.

4)Online Poster/ Model making competition on the theme “ Green Mobility”

Online Poster/ Model making competition on the theme “ Green Mobility” was organized by the School of Automobile Engineering for all undergraduate students of Skill and Professional University.

4)Test drive of all new Tata Nexon Electric Car

Demonstration and test drive of all new Tata Nexon Electric Car was organized in the SSPU Campus on 24th Nov 2020. Following faculty members from the school of Automobile engineering were present for the demonstration, Dr. Charudatta Pathak, Prof. Sanjay Bhandari, Sumit Dubal, Rajkumar Baghel and Shweta Jain.

Guest lecture on ‘’Future trends in Fuels and Lubricants for Automobiles’’

School of Engineering organized a guest lecture on the topic Future trends in Fuels and Lubricants for Automobiles for the Automobile engineering students on 24th August at 2:30 pm. The speaker was Mr. Rajesh Nambiar, who is working as General Manager at Indian Oil corporation ltd. He has delivered informative and enthusiastic session based on his professional experiences in the petroleum industries and challenges in the field of tribology. He has covered multiple trending topics like role of lubricants with respect to optimum engines performance, reason for adopting Bharat Stage VI norms and its impact on environment and economy.

SAE SUPRA 2020 -The Motivational / Expert talk for HEXIS Racing Team

The Motivational / Expert talk for HEXIS Racing Team of SSOU was organized by SAE collegiate Club, SSOU on 14th Sept. 2019.The Expert speaker was Mr. Shubham Agarwal, Volkswagen India, Technical Head for Team CRATOS Racing and Electric Vehicle. He has shared his experience about challenges in building a racing car, managing the required resources at each stage, different examination during event and related preparation, qualification of rules and regulations of SUPRA rule book. HEXIS Racing Team is grateful for support received from Dr. Sanjay Arole, Director School of Engineering and Prof. Vikrant Garud, In- Charge SAE collegiate club, SSOU.

Guest Lecture on “Start-ups Concept to Commissioning”

A guest lecture on the topic of “Start-ups Concept to Commissioning” was organized on 25th September 2019 in E-209 (Engineering Block), Prof. Sanjay Bhandari, Convener of Institution’s Innovation Council & Assistant Professor in Automobile Engineering; Symbiosis Skills and Open University, Kiwale, Pune. The well-known expert Mr. Satish Ranade, Ex. General Manager of WIPRO delivered expert talk on the introduction of the Start-ups, Life Cycle of Start-up, and Problem Definition-before start-up, Solution on problems, Funding, Execution, Legal Aspects, Sales and Exit strategy. He also shared his experiences and current market condition of construction.

Expert talk on “Electric Two Wheeler: Challenges and approach for development”

SAE collegiate club, SSOU has organized expert talk on “Electric Two wheeler: Challenges and approach for development” by Mr. Hemant Khalane, RICARDO India. In his presentation, he has covered Government directives on EV implementation, challenges and case study on “Required capacity of electric motor”. Also differentiated lead-acid and lithium-ion battery on different parameters like, efficiency, cost, reliability, and marketing trend on different verticals, safety and maintenance. Mr. Hemant Khalane, appreciated questions and interactions pertaining to advance research areas. This session is ended with vote of thanks given by Mr. Hrithik Arvindan, student and SAE Collegiate club Member.

An Industrial Visit to Nichrome Integrated Packing Solutions, Shirwal, Pune.

An industrial visit to Nichrome Integrated Packing Solutions, Shirwal, Pune was organized by SSOU for the students of First year B.Tech Automobile Engineering on 11th October, 2019.  78 students and three faculty visited Nichrome. Nichrome is a brand trusted for its manufacturing competency in packaging systems for food products and pharma. Nichrome manufactures automated packing system as per the demand of the customer. This visit gave insight to students about how automation is done and used in industry.

Industrial Visit at Auto Cluster Development and Research Institute, Pune

An industrial visit to Auto Cluster Development and Research Institute Pune was organized by SSOU for the students of Third year B.Tech Automobile Engineering on 18th October, 2019. 40 students and two faculty visited Autocluster. Autocluster is a facility for providing support to Small & Medium Enterprises. The Auto Cluster Development and Research Institute provides an area of common facility, validation, training, seminar, workshop and market promotional activities especially for the automotive and engineering sector. Students visited Prototype production facility Centre, rapid Prototype Centre, Environmental testing laboratory, Rubber and Polymer testing laboratory where students got familiar with different non-traditional machines. Students observed different rapid prototyping, machines and environmental testing of different components.

Industrial visit for SY Automobile Engineering students has organized on 8/11/2019 Friday, at Auto Cluster Development & Research Institute H-Block, Plot No. C-181, Chinchwad East, Mumbai Pune Road, Pune – 411 019. The Auto Cluster Development and Research Institute provides an area of common facility, validation, training, seminar, workshop and market promotional activities especially for the automotive and engineering sector. Purpose of the visit is

  1. To understand Rapid Prototyping techniques like SLA, SLS etc…
  2. Exposure to Non-traditional machining, Testing of Rubber and Polymer Parts.
  3. Exposure to testing of automotive components.

During the visit, students were interacted with auto cluster instructors and gain detail insight about Rapid Prototyping facility, Testing of Rubber and Polymer parts, Non- Traditional Machining, CNC machining etc. this interaction will help them in their further curriculum and career too. Faculty members who guided the students during the visit are Prof. Vikrant Garud and Prof. Sumit Dubal, School of Automobile Engineering.

An Industrial Visit to Bharat Benz, Pune

An industrial visit to Bharat Benz Pune was organized by SSOU for the students of third year B.Tech Automobile Engineering on 13th November, 2019. 12 students and four faculty visited the company. This visit gave insight to students about various sub systems in Bharat Benz function namely the CVT engine, air suspensions and gearbox. This visit helped the students to get a better understanding about engine design and automotive sub systems.

Industrial visit for TY Automobile Engineering students has organized on 29/2/20 saturday, at ADVIK Hi – Tech Gate No.357/99, Chakan – Talegaon Road,    Kharabwadi, Tal – Khed, Chakan, Pune, Maharashtra 410501, Maharashtra, India. ADVIK Hi-Tech Private Limited (AHPL) is one of India’s leading & global automotive component manufacturers. They have been catering to the needs of a number of domestic and overseas customers across four continents in the two-wheeler, stationary, engine and transmission system segments for the past 12 years. They are the preferred global supplier for a range of automotive components including lifter tensioner, oil pumps, fuel cocks – manual & auto, decompression units, water pumps, combi brake system, drum gear shifters.

Purpose of industrial visit is,

  1. To understand process flow of developing Auto products i.e. APQP and PPAP process.
  2. To understand the PFMEA of Auto product.

Outcome of the visit:

Students have gone through different auto products “ADVIK Hi Tech” is developing & different quality / product testing processes of respective product. Also they learnt about control charts, PFMEA and other supportive tools required for developing product.
