Not so long ago, in the last century, our forefathers read fiction in book format called Aesop’s fables, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, Cinderella and Seven Dwarfs – the now generation watches videos of Harry Potter and Games of Thrones. Moreover rapidly text books of physics, chemistry and other sciences are being replaced with interactive A/V Content on mobile apps. This A/V entertainment as well as learning content is being created digitally, transferred in high resolution to a nearline server and encoded into proxies for viewing on the cloud. These proxies’ videos include 4k/8k resolution videos which require high bandwidth streaming servers. Apart from streaming activities, video (including 4K/8K and Digital Cinema) is already moving to the Cloud-based production. The era of high definition video has ushered into our lives whether we are watching content on our smartphone or the big cinema screen. As of today, the audiences have choices to view content on a variety of digital media which poses technological challenges of encoding and animation while maintaining the sensitivity of art. Films need to be well crafted right from the pre-production to the screenplay writing stage. A Screenplay writer works hand in glove with the Director of the film. In today’s Audio Visual world AV content is required in all spheres: engineering, medicine, health care, management, etc. A degree in filmmaking opens wide opportunities for our students. They have opportunities to work in the entertainment as well as in the corporate and mass communication industry.
