Symbiosis Skills and Professional University, Kiwale, Pune has launched a residential diploma program for girls from underprivileged sections of the society with the support from Premium Transmission Pvt Ltd. The diploma program is named as Diploma in Manufacturing Automation, which will focus on creating industry ready girls through rigorous hands on training conducted at the university and work premises of Premium. Premium provides high quality, precision-engineered power transmission products and solutions to the global engineering industry, catering to the needs of customers across the globe. It has factories in Maharashtra and West Bengal in India and in Germany outside.
Symbiosis Skills and Professional University is the first skill development university of the state of Maharashtra. It offers sector focused programs, from certificate to degree to more than 2000 students at its campus in Kiwale.
“This is one more project we have launched to make skill training and education more inclusive with the help of our industry partners. Twenty Five girls with 12th Science background will be selected from various regions who will learn on campus in Kiwale. They will get the opportunity to learn along with other students of Symbiosis, providing them the learning in best possible environment”, said Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Pro-Chancellor, Symbiosis Skills & Professional University. Symbiosis Skills & Professional University Kiwale will be the implementation partner of the project. “The program will make girl students employable after the diploma and there will be many opportunities for them to work in manufacturing or automotive sector, traditionally dominated by their male counterparts. The diploma is also aligned with the job roles identified by NSDC and sector skill councils,” she asserted.
