BBA Retail Management at SSPU is a professional course which focuses on the Retail sector coupled with Marketing subjects which help the students to understand how Retail industry works. No other colleges offer specialized courses from the First Year. SSPU has a well-equipped Retail lab spread across 1500 sq. ft. area where we practice and apply the theory which we are being taught in our classrooms. The Professors teaching here, are Ex- CEOs and COOs from the industry and have immense knowledge about Retail. The students are not only trained to be job-ready but are trained to be an all-rounder.

SSPU has a unique curriculum that gave me an opportunity to sharpen my skill sets and has definitely broadened my knowledge about the retail sector. The fact that the students have to select their major from the very first semester gave me better clarity and as the curriculum includes 70% of field-work/practical and 30% theory learning, it became easier and more engaging. The college also gave me the opportunity to intern with a Fortune 500 company and helped me evolve in different aspects. At SSPU, all our subjects are specifically tailored according to the current retail demand and needs as per the Retail Industry norms. The practical sessions include debates, quizzes, group role-play, group discussions, presentations, mock sales and a lot more. We had innumerable opportunities to attend guest lectures of remarkable people from Top Brands of the Retail industry. Educational trips have been arranged to Dubai where students got a chance to witness the back-end function of IKEA, Carrefour, Lifestyle, leading Warehouses and get exposure to the Global Luxury brands in leading malls. Students here are given full exposure to the retail industry and full liberty to try out ideas and creativity.

SSPU is the place where theoretical knowledge is turned into practical knowledge through the support of excellent faculty and well equipped labs. The syllabus is focussed on turning students into young “Industry Experts”. Well-equipped library with reference books by international authors on current retail subjects, computers, research papers and journals makes learning easy with everything at one place. SSPU has a European style construction, an imposing amphitheater, state of the art auditorium and a peaceful environment. My experience in this University was really very good and memorable.

The University and the faculty members are very student friendly and approachable. The teaching methodology is unique with interesting case studies, discussions, role-plays and many innovative ways of teaching and evaluation. The University organizes various industrial visits, guest lectures and conferences to give a hands on experience to its students. It has contributed greatly towards the development of my personality through various training sessions of interdisciplinary sciences. The Internship programs every year add on to the credibility of each student.

SSPU provides 70% practical and 30% theory knowledge which helps us further when we complete studies and start our jobs. Internships are provided by the college to give us exposure to the real corporate culture. The subjects in the curriculum are all related to the Retail industry. The curriculum itself is planned with the participation of retail industry experts and hence is most relevant and prepares the students for the retail industry challenges.

I’m truly satisfied with everything that SSPU is providing – from the academics to the co-curricular activities everything has been up to the mark. Even during the pandemic outbreak we are having online classes, assignments, continuous assessments through Unit Tests, Skills and Practical evaluations to impart value education to the students. In keeping with social distancing and lockdown effects, the University introduced e-Internship with problem statements that made our learning a continuous process.

SSPU with its 10 months of internship within 3 years makes the students more professional while also training them for placements in top retail brands. The faculty members have immense experience in Retail Industry in both India and abroad and full knowledge of different departments, categories and functions in Retail industry. The retail intelligence are practiced in Shopper Stop Visual Merchandising Lab situated within our college premises for students to learn the operation as well as retail strategies. SSPU focuses on the application of skills and practical implementation of knowledge versus theory. Faculty members take the help of technology and PowerPoint presentations to impart knowledge; this makes it easier for us to retain what has been taught. We have parent teachers meeting every semester which helps us relate and identify our strengths and weak points and work on them and this also bonds the students-parents-faculty-management stronger.

The methodology of teaching followed is very innovative and beneficial to students. The campus is well equipped with modern facilities. The retail lab provides a practical approach to the retail subjects and theory part taught in the class and helps the students incorporate ideas better.”
