About Us

The Three-year Degree in BBA Ports and Terminal Management has been planned to cater to the niche area of Ports and Terminal, where employment opportunities are increasing as the Government, State Governments and Private Sector is increasingly investing in Ports, Terminal, Logistics, and Transport related infrastructure.

The investment in these fields will increase Trade and Economic advancement.

This will generate good business opportunities for Port and Logistics service providers such as Shipping Company, Shipping Agencies, Import-Export firms, Container Freight Stations, Inland Container Depots and Multimodal transport Operators.

The course curriculum includes industry-oriented sector-specific subjects related to Ports, Different types of terminals, Ocean Shipping, Agency Business, Freight Management, Warehousing, Inland waterways transport, Marketing and Financial Aspects.

The course curriculum has been designed with the inputs from the experts in Port, Shipping and Logistics Industry. The detailed list of topics is –
Ports Management, General Cargo Handling, Bulk, Liquid, Gas Terminal, multifunctional or independent commodity-specific terminal as part of any Industrial project .During the course, the students are assigned tasks to solve Retail problems and analyze case studies, problem statements, participate in group discussions, presentations and recommend solutions to retail challenges. The continuous assessment helps the students in self-evaluation and self-development, mentored by expert faculty with both academic excellence and global retail exposure. The course curriculum is framed with the inputs of experts from the industry to include all current issues in the Retail Industry for the students to gain complete retail knowledge. The industry experts are invited to deliver Guest Lectures and for Panel Discussions for the benefit of our students.

It is a pleasure to share with you the spirit of the School of BBA Retail and e-Commerce Management and highlight the salient features of the course. The retail industry is ever-growing and the avenues of conducting business are also changing and developing. Modern Retail is an amalgamation of Brick and Mortar Store and Online & e-Commerce Trade. Globalization and Technology have become a part of everyday life and so it is with the Retail Industry.
To cater for changing landscape of the Logistics and Transport industry and the challenges thereby, SSPU is conducting skill development training programs for ‘Opportunities in High-growth Sectors. The Ports, Terminal and Logistics Management has become a niche area where employment opportunity are increasing. There has been upward trend in investment in Ports & Terminal Infrastructure and Logistics facilities. Initiatives like Special Investment schemes on the Coastal region (Sagarmala Project for Port Led Coastal Economic Zone Developments and Bharatmala Project for Road Infrastructure Project) creates employment opportunities within the Ports and Terminal on the coast and at Inland Industrial Centers. The Terminals at inland Industrial centers will comprise of new Multimodal Logistics parks, Multi modal transport functionality with transport mode Interchange hubs which will have cargo handling equipment and Warehousing facilities, Warehousing Free Trade Zones and Special Economic Zones.

The event was a combination of educational and fun activities, aiming to raise awareness about the significance of ports and their role in international trade and logistics. Activities like Oath taking, Speech, special sessions and Quiz competition were organised. The day began with a sense of purpose as students took an oath to uphold the values of efficient and sustainable port management. One of the highlights of the celebration was the port model-building. This is the only course available in India at the undergraduate level for Ports and Terminal Management.  The BBA Ports and Terminal Management Program is unique in its focus on the maritime industry, offering a specialized curriculum that prepares students for the specific challenges and opportunities within port and terminal management.

The BBA Ports and Terminal Management Program is a specialized undergraduate degree designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for effective management and operation of ports and terminals. This course equips students with End to end study of Ports Management, Process Improvement, Efficiency Enhancement in Ports and shipping industry.  Specialized subjects like custom clearance and freight forwarding equip students for career in Import and Export.  The student is introduced to  Developing, designing, building and operating high value terminals.  Optimize the profitability of terminals by negotiating terms with suppliers.  Managing cargo-handling contracts and various different port services (tugging, piloting, etc.).

BBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management covers operations of broad range of industries from consumer product goods to agriculture. We expose the students to real life applications of Artificial Intelligence and Block Chain Technology in Supply chain Management with purview of developing student to manage international trade.  We are the only BBA Program that lays stress on learning by doing.  A 70% focus on practicals and skills.  Only 30% through theory.

Ports and Terminals are areas where the student would flourish.  Job opportunities also exist in Private shipping companies, Freight department, Bulk Carrier Department and Cruise ships.
