It was a pleasure to meet Hon Shri Rajesh Tope, Health Minister, Maharashtra. We visited Sri Lanka in 2011 with a delegation led by him to study Sri Lanka’s national skill university. My passion, research, and journey in skill-based education started after this visit. Shri Tope Sir encouraged me to work in the area of skill development. Through this research, we established Symbiosis Skills & Professional University at Pune in 2017 which is Maharashtra’s 1st Skill University.
SSPU students visit to Pune Metro Project
Over 200 students from Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU paid visit to Pune Metro Project recently. Other than fun experience it was extremely exciting and learning experience for students of the varsity. Hon. Pro-chancellor of SSPU, Dr. Swati Mujumdar was also present on the occasion.
Keeping up with the pedagogy of 70 percent focus on the learning by doing, SSPU students got opportunity to visit the various operational units of the Pune Metro Project and interact with the officials working for the smooth operations of the project. Students were also were part of the Metro ride between Garware College Station to Vanaz.
Hon. Governor of Maharashtra Shri. Bhagat Singh Koshyari Visit at SSPU
Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra appreciated the unique model adapted by Symbiosis Skills and Professional University, Pune, in State Assembly on 8th March, 2021.
He appreciated the built of campus and the world class infrastructure at campus. He made special reference about placements of the students.

Hon. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Chancellor, Symbiosis Skills and
Professional University (SSPU) and Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences
(SUAS) was conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award at 34th edition
of the prestigious Pune Festival.
‘Pune Festival’ a confluence of music, dance, drama, art, singing, instruments, sports and culture is celebrated during Ganesh Festival at Pune. This year the 34th edition of Pune Festival was inaugurated by Hon. Shri. Nitin Gadkari ji, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Hon. Shri. Devendra Fadnavis ji, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Veteran actor Sunil Shetty also grace the inaugural function.
On the occasion, Dr. S. B. Mujumdar President, Symbiosis Open Education Society and Symbiosis Foundation was conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award at the inauguration session.
Mr. Nitin Gadkari in his address praised noble work carried out by Dr. S. B. Mujumdar sir in the field of education and said that Mujumdar sir has taken Symbiosis to new heights. Not only in Pune, Maharashtra but even abroad people know about the Symbiosis. We are proud of him.
Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, Dy CM, Maharashtra applauded noble work carried out by Dr. Mujumdar sir in the field of education. And said that this occasion was the third opportunity for him to felicitate Dr. Mujumdar sir.
The Symbiosis Skills and Professional University
is the first University in India to sign the joint declaration with Energy
Swaraj Foundation Dr. Chetan Sigh Solanki, the Solar Man of India as a part of
their social obligation towards society.
The Joint declaration ceremony was attended by dignitaries, teaching, non-teaching staff, all the students.
The ceremony was started with Welcome address by Vice Chancellor Dr. Gauri Shiurkar, and Speech by Pro Chancellor of Symbiosis Skills and Professional University Dr. Swati Mujumdar highlighting the importance of Skills and Learning by Doing.
Dr S B Mujumdar the President, Symbiosis Open Education Society and President (Chancellor), Symbiosis Skills and Professional University) has said that Humanity is responsible for the Climate change and human beings should differentiate between need and greed to solve the Climate change impact.
Dr Chetan Singh Solanki the Solar Man of India has said that the present generation is the first and last generation to solve the climate change impact and time available is very limited, and mention that Symbiosis Skills and Professional University is the first University in India to sign Joint Declaration with Energy Swaraj Foundation and has taken right step at right time to mitigate the climate change impact on human society and urges other Universities to follow the same.

Energy Literate. The aim is to make whole family of Symbiosis Skills and
Professional University Energy Literate.

(a) Energy Literacy: – There is a dire need of
Energy Literacy among the society to reduce the carbon foot print. Also, it is
our joint responsivity
(b) Reduction of Energy Consumption: – The Energy Swaraj Foundation and Symbiosis Skills and Professional University has jointly agreed to reduce the Energy Consumption and use of 100 % Energy from Solar.
(c) Energy Swaraj Yatra by Symbiosis Skills and Professional University to create awareness among society about importance of Energy Literacy and impact of climate change on human society.
(d) Energy Swaraj Club to conduct various activities in Symbiosis Skills and Professional University to reduce Energy consumption as well creating awareness among society about impact of Climate change.
(e) Involved Everybody in reduction of Energy consumption and mission shall be given to students, teachers to launch one class room 100 % Solar.
Lastly, both Symbiosis Skills and Professional University and Energy Swaraj Foundation has jointly agreed to create mass social awareness in social media about the importance Energy Literacy for self and for others to reduce the impact of climate change on Human society.
