The aim of this department is to bridge the gap between industry and education.
Taking the mission of Skill India forward, Symbiosis Open Education Society announced the establishment of Maharashtra’s first Skill Development University called the Symbiosis Skills and Professional University at Kiwale, Pune. The University was enacted through a bill passed by State Legislation on 3rd May 2017.
The School of Architecture, urban development and planning offers Degree programs in high demand sector of Architecture and committed to start master of Urban Planning with multi entry-exit and credit banking options. The objective of the School is to create ‘industry-ready’ youth in the field of Urban Planning, who can be gainfully employed upon completion of their courses.
Urban planning is the art and science of designing cities, towns, and communities to create vibrant, liveable spaces that meet the needs of residents while promoting sustainability and resilience. It is a profession that blends elements of architecture, sociology, economics, and environmental science to shape the future of our urban environments.
The profession of urban planning is more crucial now than ever before as rapid urbanization, population growth, and climate change present complex challenges for cities around the world. Urban planners are tasked with envisioning and implementing strategies that address issues such as housing affordability, transportation congestion, environmental degradation, and social equity.
At the heart of urban planning lies the goal of creating inclusive, equitable, and sustainable cities. Urban planners work collaboratively with communities, government agencies, developers, and stakeholders to develop comprehensive plans and policies that guide the growth and development of urban areas. SSPU-SAUDP offers Post Graduate Programme with Minors (specialisation) in Climate Change & Urban Development opening up doors to employability in national and international organisations such as Municipal Corporations, PWD, Town Planning departments , World Bank, European Union,WRI, IURC (EU), CLC (Singapore), TERI, NIUA, etc)
Construction Yard: Hands-on training on construction technology.
Eligibility
- Passed Bachelor Degree in Planning/ Architecture/ Civil Engineering OR Passed Master Degree of Geography/ Economics/Social Sciences or equivalent Degree.
- Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the selection process as set by SSPU. GATE qualification will be preferred but not compulsory.
Eligibility Criteria for NRI / International Students
- Candidates who have acquired Bachelor Degree in Planning/ Architecture/ Civil Engineering OR Passed Master Degree of Geography/ Economics/Social Sciences or equivalent Degree.
- Must obtain an equivalent certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). All foreign qualifications need to be verified from Association of Indian Universities (AIU) by the candidate (the application format is available on AIU website link: https://aiu.ac.in/documents/index/downloads/evaluation%20f orm.pdf before seeking provisional admission to any programme of SSPU.
- Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the selection process as set by SSPU. GATE qualification will be preferred but not compulsory.
